Leeds United fans will love Michael Brown's verdict on the 'journey' under Marcelo Bielsa

Former Leeds United midfielder Michael Brown has described Marcelo Bielsa’s reign at Elland Road as an 'incredible journey'.

Bielsa was appointed as the Whites’ boss in 2018 after seven months without a job following his departure from French club Lille.

Since his appointment, the Argentine has led Leeds back to the Premier League after a 16 year wait for top-flight football for the club’s supporters.

Bielsa’s teams are known for their high work ethic and intense training sessions, something that has shown in the Whites’ opening matches of the season.

Brown, who spent three years at Elland Road from 2011 until 2014, was full of praise for the Leeds boss.

He also spoke about new signing Diego Llorente - who was signed from Real Sociedad earlier in the week - not even being in the squad as he needs more time to adapt to Bielsa’s demands.

“They started two seasons ago being this dynamic sort of team. The questions were, ‘Can these players cope with it? Can they do it all season?’. Now they are demands,” Brown said on BT Sport.

“If you look at the bulk of the squad, they’ve been with him for a long period of time, he signs a new player in Llorente - he doesn’t make the squad - because he’s got to understand the training methods, the formations he instills in the players.

“It’s been incredible to watch the journey of this Leeds team and finally now, they’ve got a chance to show it.”
