Leeds United fans will be hoping pundit's Patrick Bamford prediction comes true amid update

Leeds United fans will be hoping Andros Townsend’s Patrick Bamford prediction comes true amid reports of the Whites offering the striker a new deal.

This reported decision comes on the back of Tottenham interest in the forward, who the Londoners could turn to if England captain Harry Kane leaves for Premier League champions Manchester City before the summer window shuts.

According to The Telegraph, Spurs may be interested in a deal for the Leeds number nine as speculation continues surrounding Kane.

Leeds, though, are keen to ensure that Bamford, who netted 17 goals and provided eight assists in the Whites’ first season back in the Premier League, does not depart Elland Road.

The 27-year-old is heading into the final year of his contract after joining the club from Middlesbrough for £7m on a four-year deal and Leeds are keen to tie him onto new terms to extend his stay in West Yorkshire.

Bamford has proved to be a key man for Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa and the Argentinian’s faith in the former Chelsea striker has paid dividends as he has gone from strength to strength.

His willingness to press defenders has also been key to the success of Bielsa at Leeds and so losing Bamford would be a big blow.

Townsend, though, speaking in March, doesn’t think that Leeds fans have anything to worry about regarding Bamford’s future as he has finally found a place which has allowed him to feel at home.

He told Optus Sports: “I don’t think he will want to go anywhere. He’s been and done the rounds. He’s settled down and finally got the manager who appreciates his game and gets the best out of him. If clubs do come calling, I don’t think it would faze him one bit.”
