Leeds United fans welcome decision to appeal Gaetano Berardi red card after 'blatant dive'

Leeds United have today confirmed that they are to appeal the red card that was controversially handed to centre-back Gaetano Berardi in Saturday's 2-1 defeat to Millwall at The Den.

The Swiss defender, who was drafted in to replace the injured Liam Cooper at centre-back, was sent off after just 14 minutes when he was adjudged to have sent Tom Bradshaw tumbling to the ground inside the penalty area.

Referee James Linington awarded Millwall a penalty, which was converted by Jed Wallace, and dismissed Berardi.

But video replays have shown that Bradshaw appeared to throw himself to the ground after feeling the faintest of touches from Berardi on his back.

Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa addressed the issue of the card in his post-match press conference and the club confirmed on Sunday morning that they would be appealing the dismissal.

Leeds United supporters were quick to react to the decision and the general feeling is that it should be an open-and-shut case and Berardi should see his card rescinded. Here's a round of of their reaction
