Leeds United fans urge Jamie Shackleton to 'stake a claim' as Kalvin Phillips absence confirmed

Leeds United fans have voiced their concerns after Kalvin Phillips was ruled out of their match with Arsenal but have challenged Jamie Shackleton to grasp his opportunity.

The Whites head to the Emirates without their star man after he was taken off in the closing stages of Monday night's 2-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

Marcelo Bielsa refused to confirm whether Phillips was fit to play Arsenal in his pre-match press conference but the midfielder misses out with Shackleton coming into the team.

Though the initial expectation was for Shackelton to replace Phillips in midfield, Bielsa has confirmed that Pascal Struijk will move to a holding midfield role, with Luke Ayling swapping right-back for centre-back.

It means either Shackelton or Stuart Dallas will play at full-back, with the other joining Struijk and Matusz Klich in the engine room.

Regardless, Leeds fans are delighted to see another of their academy graduates handed more Premier League minutes, though there is natural concern about the loss of Phillips.

Leeds have a horrible record in the capital under Bielsa, having lost to Crystal Palace, Chelsea and Tottenham already this season.

Whilst the Whites have competed admirably against Manchester City and Arsenal at Elland Road, whilst also narrowly losing at Anfield, Klich admitted the team is missing a top-six scalp and a win in London.

"Yeah, we need to win against a top-six side and we need a win in London because everyone knows our record in London is not very good", Klich told Sky Sports ahead of kick-off.

"It's a good time to win. We are (aware of the record) and we have to sometime win in London."
