Leeds United fans underline again their power over the rest of the Championship

Leeds United’s Luke Ayling has received the Bristol Street Motors PFA Player Of The Month Award for December.

The right-back was named the winner of the public vote after being named on a shortlist alongside former Whites centre-half Tom Lees, now at Sheffield Wednesday, Millwall’s Jed Wallace, Cardiff City’s Lee Tomlin, West Bromwich Albion’s Sam Johnstone and Swansea City’s Andre Ayew.

It was an eventful month for Ayling and Leeds, who started out extending their winning streak to seven straight games, the defender helping keep clean sheets in wins over Huddersfield Town and Hull City.

It was surely his memorable performance against Birmingham City which sealed the award for the 28-year-old, helping put Leeds ahead on three occasions in an unforgettable match at St. Andrew’s.

He scored United’s third on the day with a rocket, flying in off the post, before assisting Dallas for the fourth and playing the cross that led to Wes Harding’s 94th-minute own goal, the match-winner for Leeds.

Receiving the award with a massive 39 per cent share of the vote, receiving more than twice as many votes as the runner-up, Lees, who only received 15 per cent.
