Over a month after Leeds United finally ended their 16-year wait for Premier League football, fans have taken to the skies above Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire to showcase their delight.
A group calling themselves Nottingham Whites, posted a video on Monday afternoon of an aircraft taking to the skies with a banner in tow, proclaiming their title victory.
Clearly an attempt to wind-up fans of both Nottingham Forest and Derby County, fans took to twitter to share pictures and video of the stunt, with it even getting a mention during the commentary of Notts Outlaws taking on Yorkshire Vikings in the T20 at Trent Bridge.
Leeds, under the tutelage of Marcelo Bielsa, were Championship winners last season, taking the title ahead of West Bromwich Albion.
Like Forest, Leeds had been dining outside the top table of English football for a lengthy period of time, but while the Whites returned to the Premier League, the Reds’ hopes of joining them came careering to a halt in stunning fashion.
A final 20 minute collapse against Stoke City last month saw Sabri Lamouchi’s side miss out on a place in the play-offs, despite spending much of the elongated season inside the top six, including a spell as league leaders.

Meanwhile, the Whites’ rivalry with Derby intensified last season following the ‘spygate’ saga, with the Rams then beating Leeds in the play-off semi-final at Elland Road, before going on to lose to Aston Villa in the final at Wembley.
