Leeds United fans taunt Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with Man United chant during Arsenal clash

Leeds United supporters found a way to have fun at the Emirates Stadium last night by trolling Manchester United fans and boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The Whites were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by Arsenal, who won 2-0 against a Leeds team that featured four teenagers by full-time.

However, despite the long trip south and the result, Leeds United fans brought the atmosphere by singing ‘Ole’s at the wheel’.

The phrase was adopted into song by Manchester United fans but has been less popular at Old Trafford since a large proportion of the club's fans started to call for Solskjaer to be sacked after a run of poor form.

Solskjaer is under huge pressure, especially after an embarrassing 5-0 defeat at home to Liverpool last weekend.

The Norwegian led Manchester United’s players through training yesterday and is expected to still be in the dugout against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, but various newspapers have reported today that he only has a few matches left to prove himself, with a decision possibly being made after three more games.

The turmoil at Old Trafford has been met with a lack of sympathy from fans across the country and Leeds United supporters joined in the mass mocking last night.

Many national news reporters picked up on the chant, including Henry Winter of the Times who tweeted: “#lufc fans singing ‘Ole's at the wheel’.”

The phrase was memorably used by former Leeds player Rio Ferdinand who called for Solskjaer to be given a permanent contract at any price in 2019, before adding: "Ole's at the wheel man, he’s doing it, he’s doing his thing. Man United are back!”
