Leeds United fans react to Victor Orta's bold claim on promising academy starlet

Leeds United fans have been reacting to the comments of Director of Football Victor Orta on one of the club’s most promising youngsters Archie Gray.

Gray, who at just 15, has already represented the club’s under-23s in the Premier League 2 and turned out as part of an under-21s side in the 4-1 defeat to Tranmere Rovers in the EFL Trophy, where he registered a superb assist for Amari Miller.

The teenager is the great nephew of former Leeds legend Eddie Gray, who made 454 appearances during his 17-year spell with the Whites and would later manage the club and grandson of former Whites defender Frank.

Orta, in an interview with La Media Inglesa, translated by Joe Brennan, likened Gray to that of Barcelona striker Sergio Aguero when he was a youngster and while the club are keen to avoid any premature hype, Orta is excited by what he could offer Leeds in the future.

He said: “In five years time you’ll be talking about this guy non-stop… hopefully nobody takes him away from us for God’s sake.”

Leeds fans have been reacting Orta’s comments on the youngster. Here is what they said:

@martyn_ss : “This man is playing one long term game of chess and I like it.”

@PaulCon1996: “ It just feels right that Eddie Gray’s great nephew should be a generational talent. And it absolutely should be in a Leeds United shirt.”

@ell_spencex: “ Hopefully nobody takes him away from us… but let’s put him on everybody’s radar.”

@FocusOnLeeds: “ He's a star but we need to just keep doing what we're doing with him and let him develop.”

@shottersnati0n: “Hopefully no one takes him away from us, then compares him to a young Aguero…”

@cplufc1 : “Anyone who thinks this affects his chances of leaving the club has a tiny brain. The only thing it does is put pressure on the lad that’s not needed.”
