Leeds United fans react to key detail dubbed 'cheap' in 2021/22 home kit release

Three weeks to go until the season's curtain-raiser at Manchester United, Leeds fans finally know what Marcelo Bielsa's first-choice XI will trot out in.

Leeds United released their 2021/22 home kit to some rave reviews, and other not so complimentary assessments, on social media on Wednesday evening.

The club dropped a new video along with details on how to secure the new strip on Twitter.

Raphinha, Patrick Bamford, Robin Koch, Jack Harrison and Pascal Struijk among others were chosen to model the new strip, which boasts a Henley, button-up collar and fluorescent yellow Adidas stripes on the shoulders.

While some supporters have taken to the new kit reasonably well, somewhat surprised given the collective grimace when this design was leaked earlier this summer, others have not been so kind.

Here are an assortment of immediate reactions to the 2021/22 home shirt from Leeds United fans:

@paulbutler1983 said: "Just looks really cheap the yellow stripes just don't work at all and that sleeve sponsor when we said we wanted yellow we meant the away kit"

@JamieMcEvoy was a tad more cut-throat: "Retract the official release of this shirt like you did with the new badge. Announce a new signing to make up for this atrocity," he said in reply to the club's official tweet.

@ashleymumford87 agreed: "You can keep your fabric it’s absolutely awful! I hope the away kit is better!"

@john606sc provided some much-needed clarity on the situation: "When it come to our club, we have nothing to moan about now apart from the kit or the sponsor. That’s a right result for the owner."

@sam51h : "Better than the leaked shots. Yellow stripes look better with the blue logo nearby"

@BarneyLUFC21 joked about this design having been leaked some time ago: "I’m shocked I wasn’t expecting this design at all….."

@TimHoolahan wasn't one of the dissenting voices: "I like it a lot. White shirt with club colours as trim. Shame about the yellow being a weird neon one but apart from that it’s good."

@egil_ped echoed the views of certain sections Leeds supporters: "finally, love the shirt...but id buy it no matter what it looked like"
