Leeds United fans react to Illan Meslier omission as Kiko Casilla starts vs Brighton

Leeds United fans have fear their side will miss Illan Meslier after the goalkeeper was absent from Marcelo Bielsa's starting line-up for the Premier League clash with Brighton.

The Whites are back in league action following the humiliating 3-0 defeat against League Two outfit Crawley Town in the FA Cup third round last weekend.

In that match, Kiko Casilla endured a torrid afternoon as the lower-league side benefitted heavily from some costly mistakes.

It was the latest incident for the former Real Madrid goalkeeper, who has lost his position as first-choice goalkeeper to Illan Meslier.

Fans were hopeful that Meslier would return between the posts this afternoon, but the Frenchman is absent from the squad.

The reason for his absence is yet to be confirmed by the club, but Meslier has sent a message on Instagram thanking fans for their support and telling them that he is 'recovering well'.

The former Real Madrid man has not played in the league since last season's dead rubber at Derby County when the Championship title had been secured and will now make his first Premier League appearance.
