Leeds United fans pinpoint biggest concern after wasteful draw at Newcastle United

Leeds United fans have voiced their concerns at the lack of clinical edge in front of goal after spurning chances against Newcastle United.

The Whites' wait for a first Premier League win of the season continued after a 1-1 draw at St James' Park on Friday night.

Leeds missed a glut of first-half chances after taking the lead through Raphinha and arguably should have been awarded a penalty with the score at 1-0.

Junior Firpo missed a guilt-edged chance to put Leeds back in front after Allan Saint-Maximin equalised, whilst Patrick Bamford fluffed his lines in the second half.

With little to change the game from the bench, Leeds fans have aired worries about a lack of cutting edge in the final third of the pitch.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was adamant that Leeds should have been awarded a penalty in the first half, in what proved to be a sliding doors moment in the match.

"I thought it was a penalty in real-time, you watch it again I think it’s a stonewall penalty," he said.

"If you’re Leeds, I’d be really annoyed. It’s 23 minutes in they go 2-0 up, by that point, Newcastle only had a shot on target, from that point Newcastle grew so it was a big turning point."
