Leeds United fans left furious over George Baldock's tackle on Tyler Roberts

Leeds United fans were left furious that George Baldock escaped punishment for Sheffield United in the first half of their game on Saturday.

The Whites were 1-0 up and on a break when Tyler Roberts was felled by a lunge from Blades defender Baldock, who sustained a blow to the head and received treatment for his injury before eventually being forced off the pitch.

With the ball breaking to Jack Harrison, referee Graham Scott waved play on, only for the Whites attacker to be denied by a fine save from Aaron Ramsdale.

Scott then failed to bring play back to punish Baldock for the tackle, leaving Whites fans bemused.

Speaking at half-time on Amazon Prime, Alan Shearer said the tackle was deserving of at least a yellow card.

Yet the pundit was more furious at the fact Baldock had been allowed to try and play on before being replaced, despite clearly suffering from a head injury.

He said: "A crunching tackle - it was very brave from Roberts as he knows he's going to get clattered.

"I look at it and I just think, when is football going to learn? If in doubt, sit them out. Baldock's been assessed, he's allowed back onto the football pitch for five minutes but clearly he's not right so they take him off again.

"Leave him off, take him off and assess him - bring someone else on, that's what the law was brought into for concussion.

"Five minutes later, hes' off. What's football waiting for by allowing this?"

He later added: "It should have definitely been a yellow card, perhaps even a red card. He clattered into him and was out of control.

"It was a poor challenge."
