Leeds United fans issue message to Charlie Cresswell as youngster handed Premier League debut

Leeds United fans are delighted to see Charlie Cresswell handed a Premier League debut as Marcelo Bielsa was forced to make changes to his starting XI for the visit of West Ham United.

With Diego Llorente, Robin Koch, Pascal Struijk and Luke Ayling all unavailable, Thorp Arch graduate Cresswell makes his first league start this afternoon alongside skipper Liam Cooper in the heart of the Whites defence.

The 19-year-old was given the nod in the midweek penalty shootout win at Fulham in the Carabao Cup, but will now be pitted against the Hammers' in-form striker Michail Antonio, who leads the line for David Moyes' side.

While Bielsa was able to call on the services of Raphinha, who was another pre-match doubt, it is Cresswell's inclusion that has got fans talking ahead of kick-off, as Leeds look for their first Premier League win of the season.

Here is a look at what they've had to say:

Elsewhere, Jamie Shackleton earns a place in the starting line-up, while Jack Harrison takes a place up on the bench after missing the last two matches following a positive Covid-19 test.

Leeds United XI: Meslier, Shackleton, Cooper, Cresswell, Firpo, Phillips, Dallas, Klich, James, Raphinha, Rodrigo

Subs: Klaesson, Hjelde, Drameh, Greenwood, Gelhardt, McCarron, Harrison, Summerville, Roberts
