Leeds United fans' hopes of returning to Elland Road were dealt a further blow after the government announced households in Leeds can't mix.
Supporters have already missed out on a trip to Anfield after the Whites' return to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years.
Hopes of an October return at a reduced capacity were shattered by Boris Johnson who confirmed this week that plans to introduce fans back into sporting arenas was on hold due to a spike in COVID-19 cases.
With Leeds an area particularly at risk, the government have now announced extra measures in the city.
As well as the 'rule of six' which has been introduced across the nation, as well as a 10pm curfew for all pubs and restaurants, people in Leeds are not allowed to mix households.
During an announcement on Friday, Leeds City Council CEO Tom Riordan said: "The rule of 6 and curfew are all exactly the same in Leeds.
"The additional factor is about no household mixing within your own home or garden.
"That’s the law. Outside, in pubs and restaurants, it’s strong advice.
"There are fines if you don’t do what the restriction says within your own home. But the guidance is that you shouldn’t mix with others in pubs and restaurants.
"If you have a social bubble, if you have childcare, if you have children in two separate households, if you’re having work done on your home, etc, there are exceptions.
“But the message is: you shouldn’t really mix with other households. The clarity of the bottom line is what we are trying to get to.”
The news only further damages any hopes of supporters being allowed back in Elland Road to see Marcelo Bielsa's team this season.
The Whites host Manchester United on April 24 next year in the most highly-anticipated match of the season and this latest development is a setback to hopes of fans attending the game.
