Leeds United fans hope Diego Llorente can make 'massive impact' after goalscoring U23s comeback

Leeds United fans have been left excited by Diego Llorente after he made his injury comeback for the Under-23s against Stoke City.

United named a host of first-team players for the match, with Kalvin Phillips, Helder Costa, Ian Poveda, Tyler Roberts and Llorente all involved.

The Spaniard was making his first appearance for the youth side as he returns from an injury that has kept him out since early December.

The 27-year-old has been plagued by injuries since his summer transfer from Real Sociedad, making just one Premier League appearance so far this season.

With Robin Koch also a long-term absentee, the absence of Llorente has been hard felt, particularly given the height, with Leeds conceding the most goals from set-pieces in the league this term.

His return is a welcome sight for supporters, who have watched their side ship 34 goals in 18 matches, the record only bettered by West Brom.

Llorente played 45 minutes in his first comeback match, scoring a header at the back post after a delightful cross from Phillips.

Supporters were delighted to see the Spaniard back in action and here's a flavour of their reaction across social media.

The Whites Under-23s extended their lead to eight points at the top of the PL2 Division 2 with Llorente's header proving the decisive moment in the match.

Phillips also completed 45 minutes of action, whilst Poveda and Costa played out the full 90 minutes.
