Leeds United fans hit out at Adrian Durham's bizarre resignation claim about Marcelo Bielsa

Leeds United fans have hit out at Adrian Durham after the outspoken talkSPORT presenter called on Marcelo Bielsa to offer his resignation.

The Whites suffered a shock 3-0 defeat to League Two Crawley Town to exit the FA Cup on Sunday, with a number of Bielsa's tactical selections raising eyebrows.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Durham was highly critical of Leeds and Bielsa, offering a number of arguments that many Whites fans may even have found themselves agreeing with.

Yet the controversial host went one step further and argued that Bielsa should offer to resign over the defeat, which led to disbelief from many Whites fans.

Durham called the defeat to Crawley a disgrace, arguing that, whilst he did not expect the Whites would expect Bielsa's offer of resignation, it would be honourable for the manager to do so.

He said: "I thought it was an absolute disgrace from a Leeds point of view.

"Crawley played some great football, scored some good goals, credit to them - absolutely credit to them.

"I thought it was an incredible series of errors from Bielsa and I know the Leeds fans love him but this is one of those where, I always say, if you take a beating, a manager should offer to resign.

"Bielsa should offer to resign because he's taken a Premier League side to the side that's sixth in League Two and they've been beaten. Crawley haven't just snuck a win, it was 3-0 and could have been more.

"Leeds were an absolute disgrace."

He added: "They had two efforts on target, so even if they'd stuck them away, they'd have still gone out.

"Why he played Casilla, I don't know. That, to me, is insulting Crawley, he's played two games since February.

"They brought an 18-year-old and a 20-year-old at the back for two senior centre-backs at half-time, what's he even thinking about there?

"No Bamford up front, so how were they meant to score any goals?

"I don't expect his offer to resign would be accepted for one minute but, for me, that would be the decent thing to do."

Durham also defended Crawley for bringing on reality TV star Mark Wright and argued the League Two side had earned the right to pull off what many have criticised as a publicity stunt.

He said: "Mark Wright coming on was Crawley taking the mickey out of Leeds but they had every right to.

"They earned the right to because they battered them 3-0, so they can bring on who they want.

"That's Crawley laughing at Leeds, so how do Leeds fans really feel about that?

"I understand, when opposition fans and people like Gabby Agbonlahor go on about how Leeds can't conceding goals in the Premier League, they're going to stay up, they're entertaining and the fans love it.

"But they want to win the cup as well at some point. To go out to the team sixth in League Two in the manner in which they did, I thought was completely unacceptable.

"There should be an apology. For all the good work he's done, Bielsa, and for as much as he's idolised by Leeds fans, I don't think they'll be very happy."
