Leeds United fans have mixed feelings as Kalvin Phillips starts for England vs San Marino

Kalvin Phillips has been named in the England starting XI for their final World Cup qualifying group stage game against San Marino tonight.

The Leeds United midfielder is set to win his 19th international cap as the Three Lions look to progress to next winter's tournament in Qatar.

Gareth Southgate's side need just a point to guarantee their place, although they will be hoping to end their campaign with a win against the lowest-ranked side across the globe.

Goals from James Ward-Prowse, Raheem Sterling, Ollie Watkins and a Dominic Calvert-Lewin brace earned England a comfortable success in the reverse fixture back in March.

Phillips also featured in that game and he cemented his place in the team ahead of Euro 2020, playing in all eight matches at the summer tournament.

Leeds fans have been reacting to his inclusion in Southgate's XI for the trip to San Marino, with one fan 'buzzing' for the 25-year-old to win another cap, whilst another was hoping he would get a rest.

Here's what some had to say on social media.

@ShaunBu80196866: Kalvin Phillips first England goal its happening tonight!!!

@WilYakface04: I’d rather he didn’t play with the B team, still not 100%

@tommy_lufc: Feel a bit bad not watching promotion heroes Kalvin Phillips & Emile Smith Rowe playing for England but the Leeds Academy XI playing Mansfield Town U23s has to take precedent unfortunately. #lufc

@realordgreen: Buzzing for Phillips to get another cap but if he gets injured whilst playing agains part timers I swear....

@LocoTharo: Why does he have to play against San Marino? He needs rest because his form has dipped this season.

@TrainingToTeach: Just the 3 centre backs against San Marino? Thought we'd have played a back 6
