The wait to attend Leeds United matches is set to continue for the foreseeable future after Thursday's government announcement placed the city into Tier 3 local restrictions.
Tier 3 - the toughest set of regulations currently in place around the country - will see many businesses, such as restaurants, pubs and hotels, remain closed after lockdown ends on December 2.
The strict rules also prevent fans from watching sporting events in stadiums, meaning that Leeds supporters will face an even longer wait to see their club play in the Premier League this season.
A limited number of people are permitted to attend in Tier 1 and Tier 2 areas, which means that United's match against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on December 5 can be witnessed live by up to 2,000 home supporters.
Leeds fans on Twitter expressed disappointment at the news, pointing out the fact that other sides could benefit from having fans at matches while theirs will miss out.
@LunchTodd: How is it fair that some teams will be allowed fans and others not? It's great folk are allowed back, but fans make a difference to outcomes.
@Maccavelli12: Unfair advantage to any team that has fans at home but in reverse fixture will have none. Can't be allowed.
@Rickyyy1285: Interesting as I thought rate was going down in Leeds?
@Jordstevo21: Typical Leeds are in Tier 3 meaning I can't go and watch any live games at Elland Road.
@Josh_Bennett_: Can we talk about the unfair advantage of having fans at grounds in Tier 2 but not Tier 3?
@paulshoward1950: That’s ridiculous! No fans should be allowed until fans allowed into all grounds.
@MGbutlufchappy: No fans at ER till March is my guess after #Leeds goes into Tier 3. Shame but prepared to wait as a 90% empty ER is not that much better than a closed doors one.
@KenOLeary11: No real surprise there... just have to do it on the pitch and wait to have our fans back.
@georgelufc: Corrupt, they know we are loud and will intimidate players into making mistakes so that’s why we are in 3, what a joke!
@Slaven167: I've written this season off already.
