Leeds United fans' Frank Lampard and Spygate spat looks like it's finally over - for now

Leeds United's Championship rivals Derby County appear to have found their replacement for Chelsea-bound Frank Lampard.

The Rams are closing on an agreement to make Dutch legend Phillip Cocu their new head coach ahead of the 2019/20 season, according to DerbyshireLive.

Lampard is heading to Stamford Bridge with an announcement expected in the next 24 hours having been excused from pre-season at Pride Park.

Cocu has now been outlined as their number one target with bookmakers already suspending betting on his appointment.

As a player he won league titles with PSV and Barcelona. He also made more than 100 appearances for Holland.

In management and coaching, he has assisted with several youth squads at PSV, was first-team manager between 2013 and 2018 during which time the club won three Eredivisie titles in 2014/15, 2015/16, 2017/18.

He had a spell as assistant manager with the national team when they reached the World Cup final in 2010. His most recent management job was as coach of Turkish side Fenerbahce coach, but that ended after only four months.

PSV Eindhoven's under-21 assistant coach Twan Scheepers is expected to come in as Cocu's number two.

Derby defeated Leeds over two legs in the Championship play-offs semi-final before going down against Aston Villa in the final. They will now be looking to go one better this term.
