Leeds United fans express concern as Patrick Bamford 'injury' spotted in Brentford celebrations

Leeds United ended the week on a high last Sunday, salvaging a point at home to Brentford when all appeared lost.

Returning striker Patrick Bamford came off the bench to secure a valuable 2-2 draw with a 95th minute intervention in front of the Norman Hunter Stand at Elland Road.

His goal sent Leeds supporters and players into rapturous celebration.

The strike also meant Leeds had avoided defeat in three crucial fixtures over the course of eight days. A stalemate with Brighton and Hove Albion was followed by a 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, courtesy of a last-minute Raphinha penalty.

Days later, Bamford's return coincided with another late show on home turf - the third of its kind this season after Rodrigo's 94th minute penalty ensured of a point versus Wolverhampton Wanderers back in October.

However, whispers on social media have suggested the England international injured himself in the process, with all sorts of unconfirmed rumours that the forward will miss further Leeds fixtures.

Those claims remain conjectural, and as yet are unverified, but reason for the suggestions may originate from something spotted in the clips of Leeds celebrating that late equaliser.

As Bamford and his teammates emerge from the pile of bodies near the touchline, adjacent to the Jack Charlton Stand, Leeds' No. 9 appears to feel the back of his thigh, stretching it out.

Bamford was able to carry on for the remainder of the match, before then conducting post-match media duties in front of the John Charles Stand.

There did not appear to be any after-effects from the celebrations, or an impingement to his stride, which suggests all could be well.

That hasn't prevented Leeds United supporters from expressing their concern, though.

@Jake_Phillips97 tweeted: "Rumours of Phillips & Bamford out for weeks… just when we thought we had the whole band back together. If true, December is going to be tougher than we first thought."

@hannahxLufc asked: "Why am I seeing bamfords out for 3 weeks due to an injury from his goal celebration?"

@lufcryann said: "bamford ayling and phillips rumours true???"

@ThomasBanks85 also spotted Bamford's stretching: "Bamford was seen stretching his hamstring after the game!"

@dan_lufc_winter said: "If #bamford is out for 3 weeks I'm going to sleep until January"

Marcelo Bielsa next faces the media later this week, where he will likely be asked about the fitness of key first-team players including Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper, who were both substituted in the 2-2 draw with Brentford.
