The international break is naturally a good time for debate on what has transpired so far this season and Leeds United fans have been airing their views on one player in particular.
It has been a mixed campaign so far for Marcelo Bielsa’s men, who began the season like a house of fire. But the exciting fiery start from Leeds has been blown out thanks to 4-1 defeats at the hands of Leicester City and Crystal Palace.
Fast forward to this weekend and an international break without club football is always a chance to take stock. And some fans have been doing that in regards to the club’s midfield.
We are heading closer and closer to the January transfer window and the opportunity to also pick up free agents as well as sign top talent.
One player whose name has come up thanks to a Leeds fan’s post is Jack Wilshere. The former England international has endured plenty of downs since breaking on the scene with Arsenal and he remains a free agent after leaving West Ham last month.
The question posed on social media by one Leeds fan was whether he would be worth a punt. It’s safe to say the verdict from fans was mixed.
The failed pursuit of Michael Cuisance during the summer transfer window has added to the Whites' need for a midfielder heading into January. If Wilshere does end up as an option for Leeds, the playmaker certainly still feels he can do a job at the highest level.
After his release by West Ham last month, Wilshere explained: "Despite all my best efforts and intentions, it has not worked out as I expected.
"I have been fully fit for a large period of time at the club, including over the course of the last eight months - training hard every day - but unfortunately have not been given the opportunity to play.
"Although of course I am frustrated that I was not fully able to showcase what I am capable of at West Ham I remain convinced I can still contribute at the very top of the game.
"I'm now looking forward to the future and hope to be able to make an announcement about the next stage of my career in due course."
