Leeds United fans defend Patrick Bamford over Middlesbrough chance

Patrick Bamford missed a chance for Leeds United at Middlesbrough this evening and naturally he began trending on Twitter.

It's not the first time this has happened this season but this time around, it's not as blatantly obvious as it may seem.

Whilst the majority of supporters and general football fans spent this evening mocking the striker for another infamous moment, there has been a section of support defending the 26-year-old forward.

Instead of hammering Bamford, these Leeds fans have been giving the much-maligned striker the benefit of the doubt.

@MWJS82 also tweeted: "Just seen that supposed miss by Bamford, looks like Shotton deflects it onto him from point blank range, I'm critical of Bamford but wouldn't call it a sitter."

These Leeds fans above spotted the key deflection made by Middlesbrough defender Ryan Shotton which altered where the ball was heading and clearly stopped Bamford from getting a good connection on the ball.

Most importantly for Leeds' fans, the club pulled off an important victory at the Riverside Stadium by winning 1-0 thanks to Mateusz Klich's strike.

Marcelo Bielsa's men have moved five points clear of third-placed Fulham in the process as eleven games remain in the 2019/20 Championship season.
