Leeds United fans can't believe their luck with latest injury to first-team winger

Leeds United supporters cannot believe their recent misfortune with injuries following yet another problem for one of their wide-men.

Ian Poveda pulled up after seemingly rolling his ankle whilst on U23s duty, immediately limping around and eventually being helped from the field by club physios.

The former Manchester City youngster had made a promising start to life in the Premier League this season, impressing in a handful of cameo appearances off the bench.

Marcelo Bielsa on his players desire against Leicester City

Now considered something of a first-teamer as opposed to a regular U23s presence, Poveda is the latest player forced off the field of play with an injury.

This comes after Rodrigo and Raphinha could not carry on in the 3-1 win over Leicester City at the weekend, and Diego Llorente's latest knock saw him subbed off against Newcastle last week.

Leeds fans have all said the same thing on the matter, cursing their bad luck at a crucial time of the season.

Fortunately, the club are well-stocked in wide areas, and given Marcelo Bielsa's latest comments, it appears Raphinha's injury isn't as bad as first feared.

Nevertheless, it is certainly a problem Leeds fans wish they didn't have.

Fortunately, Helder Costa came through his 45-minute cameo safely and could be in line for a start against Everton in midweek if Raphinha and Poveda are both unavailable.

On first viewing, Poveda's knock, which originated from a coming together as he was hurriedly chasing back, appears to have been more severe than Raphinha's.

It comes at the worst possible time for the London-born winger, who is very much on the cusp of establishing himself as a reliable first-team option for Bielsa.

It is expected Poveda will be assessed in the coming days, which will shed some light on how long he remains sidelined for.
