Leeds United fans call for defensive reinforcements after first half against Manchester United

Leeds United fans have reacted to a difficult first half against Manchester United, with Leeds .

Marcelo Bielsa's side were given an early warning when Marcus Rashford hit the post within the first two minutes,  and they didn't heed it five minutes later when Paul Pogba slipped through Aaron Wan-Bissaka who crossed across goal to give Mason Greenwood a simple tap-in.

Manchester United continued to dominate and ramped up the pressure as Pogba came close to doubling the lead on a couple of occasions in the opening 15 minutes.

At times there looked to be a difference in class between the Premier League giants and Bielsa's side in the opening stages, but Leeds steadily grew into the game.

Within the space of a few minutes, Jack Harrison hit the side netting, Pablo Hernandez shot at goal after a driving run through midfield and Patrick Bamford was given a golden opportunity to score before shooting straight at Sergio Romero.

But it wasn't long before they were picked off on the counter as Rashford doubled Manchester United's lead, turning past Stuart Dallas to carve open the chance to slot past Kiko Casilla.

Defensive lapses were something of a common recurrence for Leeds against the speed of the opposition's young front three. Fans on social media were not pleased about the performance at the back and called upon the club to sign a new defender in place of Pontus Jansson.
