Leeds United fans bemoan their side's luck after narrow Wolves defeat

Leeds United fans bemoaned their side's luck in their narrow 1-0 defeat to Wolves.

The Whites suffered defeat at Molineux after Adama Traore's long-range shot bounced into the net off goalkeeper Illan Meslier after hitting the bar midway through the second half for a freak own goal.

Leeds arguably had the better chances in the game, having 18 shots at goal and seeing Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio pull off a number of solid stops.

With Patrick Bamford seeing a goal ruled out for offside by mere millimetres, Leeds fans bemoaned their luck, particularly after Wolves recorded a 1-0 win over the Whites earlier in the season in similar circumstances.

BT Sport pundit Steve McManaman agreed that Leeds had a right to feel hard done by in the game.

Speaking post-match, the pundit said fortune had just gone against Meslier for the own goal and there was nothing the French goalkeeper could have done to stop it going in.

He said: "It was a wonderful strike but there's that little bit of fortune you get and it was his turn tonight.

"It did come cannoning off the goalkeeper and, you see the goalkeeper's reaction, he can't believe that it's bounced back into the net.

"Leeds will talk about how Wolves just got that little bit of fortune today but that's what happens in football.

"There's nothing he could have done, it was just one of those nights for them.

"Other times he'll get that little bit of luck and make a fortunate save but tonight it went against him."
