Leeds United fans are saying the same thing after Brighton reject £22m Ben White bid

Leeds United fans have made their feelings over Ben White clear on Twitter.

The Whites have had two bids for their former loanee turned down, with Brighton & Hove Albion seemingly unswayed by the second offer of £22m.

White's form at Elland Road last season was superb as he helped Leeds to promotion to the Premier League and the Whites are keen to sign him permanently.

Yet his performances have meant Brighton have earmarked him for a potential first-team spot, whilst reported interest from Liverpool adds a further complication to any transfer negotiations.

With White reported to have rejected two contract offers to extend his stay at Brighton, though, Leeds fans are adamant that he wants a permanent return to Elland Road.

After news of Leeds' rejected bids broke on Saturday afternoon, fans quickly made their thoughts known as 'Free Ben White' trended on Twitter - with some tongue-in-cheek tweets about how he was being kept against his will.

The Whites are said to have started identifying alternatives to the centre-back as they look to strengthen ahead of their return to the Premier League.

According to the Athletic, Manchester City defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis could well be on the list of White alternatives.

The 18-year-old centre-back is yet to play in the Premier League for City but has appeared in cup competitions.

Yet Leeds fans have made their feelings clear - they want to continue the chase for White.

With a little over a month until the new Premier League season starts, there is pressure on Leeds to get any deal for a centre-back done quickly.

White played such a crucial part at Elland Road last season that they are left with a lack of depth in defence until they sign up a new centre-back.
