Leeds United fan taunts Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich's yacht ahead of Premier League return

A Leeds United fan has stoked up the fires with an old rival ahead of the new season after being filmed taunting Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich’s yacht.

The two sides are set to renew their rivalry as the Whites make their long-awaited return to the Premier League for the 2020/21 campaign.

It will be the first time in 14 years Leeds have been in the top flight, and will see them renew acquaintances with a few old adversaries, including the Blues.

Historically one of English football’s biggest rivalries, despite the geographical difference between the two sides, it has somewhat diminished over the years as they’ve been kept apart during the Whites’ time in the Championship.

But Leeds fans are clearly looking forward to coming up against the Blues once again, and one fan begun early by taunting Abramovich while on holiday.

In a video shared on Twitter, the supporter is filmed holding a Leeds towel up to the Chelsea owner’s gargantuan yacht while singing Marching on Together.

The fan ends the song with a simple “adios Roman!” although the Russian billionaire isn’t seen.

The video has garnered plenty of reaction from Leeds and Chelsea fans alike, suggesting the rivalry will be renewed next season in the Premier League.

And of course, with Frank Lampard now in charge at Stamford Bridge, the Leeds faithful will no doubt have something else to latch on to, given the former midfielder’s reaction to ‘spygate’ while manager of Derby County.
