The Sun's Alan Nixon says Nick Powell will be leaving Wigan Athletic on a free transfer in the summer.

Powell is hot property in the Championship thanks to his displays for the Latics, with Leeds United said to be keen on him.

The former Manchester United man is also wanted by Rangers.

Wolves move for Blues youngster

The Express & Star's Tim Spiers has reported that Wolves have signed highly-rated midfielder Ty Barnett from Birmingham City.

Barnett, 13, is considered to be a hot prospect, so his move could well ruffle some feathers.

He is also the son of former Birmingham defender Dave Barnett.

Pieters on move

Speaking to Le 11 Amiénois , Stoke City defender Erik Pieters has explained his surprise loan to Amiens in January.

He said: “It all happened at the last minute. I wasn’t expecting to leave Stoke City. Everything was sorted in the last few hours and I ended up at Amiens.

“I don’t regret this choice because, looking back at it, I realised it was a good decision. I didn’t know much about the club. Just before, I asked my agent to gather some information.”
