The latest Championship news, views and transfer gossip ...

Leeds to face Villa fight

Leeds United are facing a battle to keep hold of striker Kemar Roofe, with Aston Villa keen on the frontman.

Roofe scored 15 goals for Leeds last term but the Whites missed out on promotion to the Premier League.

Villa now boast top-flight football, meaning they could tempt the former Oxford man south to Villa Park.

He has been valued at around £10million.

Birmingham City have rejected a fresh approach from Southampton for striker Che Adams.

The Blues, according to the Mail, have turned down a fresh bid of £8million for the forward from the Saints.

Adams has a number of clubs showing an interest in securing his signature this summer, after scoring 22 goals last season.

Potters keen on Pennington

Stoke City are leading the chase for Everton defender Matthew Pennington.

The Sentinel is reporting that Potters boss Nathan Jones is leading the charge for the centre-back’s signature this summer.

The Warrington-born 24-year-old has spent time with Leeds United and Ipswich Town in the past two seasons.

Williams attracting interest

Derby County have been offered the chance to sign Jonny Williams.

The midfielder is available on a free transfer this summer after spending the second-half of last season with Charlton Athletic.

The 25-year-old, according to Derbyshire Live via WalesOnline, has also been offered to West Bromwich Albion, as well as several Premier League clubs.

Duo chasing Barlaser

Preston North End and Wigan Athletic are both chasing the signature of Dan Barlaser.

Lancashire Live are reporting that Wigan lead the chase for the box to box midfielder, who is expected to depart St James’ Park this summer.

The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Accrington Stanley in League One, making 45 appearances and scoring three goals.

Maupay wants PL move

Brentford striker Neal Maupay would favour a move to the Premier League this summer if he leaves Griffin Park.

According to the Evening Standard, the 22-year-old is not unhappy at the Bees, and won’t force a move away from the club.

But the forward, who scored 25 league goals last season, is attracting the interest of clubs around Europe, but would prefer to test himself in the Premier League
