Leeds United have again been linked with a move for Nahitan Nandez.
The Whites were keen to strengthen in central midfield in the summer but failed to land their targets, with a deal for Michael Cuisance falling through.
There was also interest in Udinese's Rodrigo De Paul but Leeds failed to meet the Serie A club's asking price.
Another player linked to the club was Cagliari star Nandez, who has a release clause of £32.5m in his contract.
Yet reports from Argentine outlet Intra Sports claim the Uruguayan midfielder could be sold for a lot less than that.
The report claims that Leeds remain interested in the midfielder and that Cagliari may be willing to let the former Boca Juniors man leave for a figure of just £18m.
That would represent a decent deal for Leeds, with Nandez able to act as a box-to-box alternative to Mateusz Klich and provide more cover for Kalvin Phillips.
Phillips' importance to the Whites was underlined by back-to-back 4-1 defeats when the holding midfielder suffered an injury in November.
Interest in Nandez comes after the player's agent made it perfectly clear the midfielder would be interested in playing under Marcelo Bielsa.
Speaking in April 2019, when both Leeds and Cagliari were linked with the then-Boca star, Pablo Bentancur revealed Nandez had a desire to play under Bielsa.
He told El Crack Deportivo: "I prefer to leave Cagliari as an alternative.
"I spoke with important clubs in Europe and Nandez told me that he would like to play with Bielsa."
As it was, Nandez eventually did move to Cagliari but, now 24, he may finally get his wish to play under Bielsa if the Whites opt to follow up their interest hin him.
