Leeds United evening headlines with Son Heung-ming's ringing praise of Marcelo Bielsa's side

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines on Saturday January 2, 2021.

Son's Leeds praise

Son Heung-ming scored his 100th goal in a Tottenham shirt as Spurs eased to a 3-0 win over Leeds United on Saturday afternoon.

In a match where Leeds failed to ever really threaten Hugo Lloris in the Spurs goal, Jose Mourinho's secured what will go down as a comfortable win over Marcelo Bielsa's side.

But speaking after the match Son was quick to praise the Whites.

Bielsa draws on many positives his side displayed today

"It was a really difficult game," he told BT Sport.

"Obviously we know how they are doing, we know they are doing an unbelievable job and they are working so hard.

"We created chances from the start of the game and to get the clean sheet and 3-0 at the start of a new year is fantastic."

Bielsa on Tottenham defeat

Leeds United's 2021 has begun with a defeat at Tottenham Hotspur as goals from Harry Kane, Son Heung-ming and Toby Alderweireld sealed the points for Jose Mourinho's side.

Following the game Bielsa discussed what went wrong in north London, fielded a question on Illan Meslier's performance and gave a brief injury update.

De Paul's Tweeting gets noticed again

Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul has a habit of knowing how to engage Leeds United fans on social media.

Supporters will remember the transfer saga last summer which saw him post a number of cryptic (and not-so cryptic) messages on Twitter amid reports linking him with Marcelo Bielsa's side.

Whether it was liking posts by Leeds United fanzine The Square Ball or engaging with fans on the platform, De Paul certainly set tongues wagging, although no move materialised.

Leeds turned their attention to other targets, with an aborted move for Michael Cuisance following, but fans have been continued to keep a close eye on De Paul this season.

Read what he's been up to on Twitter today here.

The January window opened this morning and will run until February 1.
