Here are the Leeds evening headlines for Wednesday, October 28.
Leeds urged to sign Tottenham defender
Former Leeds United goalkeeper Paul Robinson has claimed Danny Rose should be a target for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
The left-back is out of favour at Tottenham Hotspur and expected to leave the club in the coming months.
Rose is out of contract at the end of the season, but there has been talk of mutual termination.
“The contract situation will be resolved eventually and I would just like to see Danny Rose get out there and play football,” Robinson told Football Insider.
“I would take him at Leeds because obviously, there have been a number of defensive injuries. Leeds have had Stuart Dallas and Alioski playing there, but to have someone like Danny Rose as part of the squad, on a free transfer, that would be a no brainer for anyone.”
Former striker says teams ‘fear’ Leeds
Ex-Leeds striker Jermaine Beckford believes teams are now scared of Marcelo Bielsa’s team.
The Whites have made a strong start to life back in the top flight, sitting in sixth place after Friday night’s win over Aston Villa.
And Beckford has backed Leeds to sustain their early form.
“Definitely top half in my opinion, absolutely,” the 36-year-old told LUTV when asked where his former side might finish.
“It has been one of those crazy seasons but listen, who is to say that we cannot stay in the European league places?
“We have been one of the best teams in the Premier League this season already.
“And everybody that comes up against us is starting to fear us.
“They do not like the work rate, they do not like the tempo, they do not like the relentlessness and ruthlessness of how we play.
“So, who is to say that we are not one of the favourites to stay in the top six.”
Vinnie Jones makes I’m a Celebrity claim about Leeds
Leeds United legend Vinnie Jones has claimed it wouldn’t be worth missing his former team play to appear on I’m a Celebrity.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have started well in the Premier League, stylishly beating Aston Villa last time out to climb to sixth in the early standings.
And Jones, rumoured to be amongst the candidates in this year’s I’m a Celebrity, has admitted he would rather watch Leeds.
“That’s work - and I’m lucky to have a job I love - but sitting back and watching Leeds do the business gives me great pleasure these days, too,” he told EasyOdds.
“Why would I go on I’m a Celeb when Bamford and the lads are this good?”
