Leeds United evening headlines as Whites eye PSG ace, Tyler Roberts opens up on transfer move

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines for Sunday, May 31.

Leeds chasing teenage defender - report

Leeds are reportedly interested in Paris Saint-Germain's young defender Thierno Balde.

The 17-year-old, who can play at full back or in the middle, has carved out a niche in the under-19 squad this season, replacing Tanguy Kouassi, who stepped up to the first team.

But he has not yet agreed a new contract to keep him in France - and Leeds are one of the teams monitoring the situation, according to L'Equipe.

Tyler Roberts on why he joined Leeds

Tyler Roberts has revealed he opted to sign for Leeds in 2018 because of the promise of first-team football.

The striker had been at West Bromwich Albion since he was a junior - but found himself surplus to requirements, and loaned out repeatedly.

"I was at West Brom and I had just come back from a loan at Walsall and I kind of wanted to try and cement a first-team place at West Brom," Roberts said in a social media video shared on Leeds' Twitter page.

"When it kind of got made obvious it was not going to happen that season, or maybe the next season after, I had had enough of going out on loan.

"I wanted to settle and try and fight for a spot. Leeds were interested and they said I would be part of the first team.

"Obviously it is a massive club and it was a no-brainer for me."

Clarity needed on season end

Leeds deserve to know how the season is going to end - and the EFL need to make a decision soon.

That's according to West Brom forward Hal Robson-Kanu - who sits second in the Championship table, behind Leeds.

Robson-Kanu thinks the situation is still far too uncertain, and requires clarity from the governing body.

"There needs to be some definitive decisions made, which can hopefully be stuck to regardless," he told talkSPORT.

“Is points per game the fairest way? It may be the fairest solution, but it’ll be unfair for some teams who haven’t played their full games and may or may not be relegated.”
