Leeds United evening headlines as West Ham enter race for Reading star, Leeds eye PSG youngster

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines for Sunday, June 7.

Leeds could face competition from West Ham in pursuit of Loader

Leeds could be joined by West Ham United in the race to sign Reading forward Danny Loader, according to Sports Mole.

The 19-year-old will reportedly leave the club on a free transfer after his offer of an extension was withdrawn due to the coronavirus pandemic.

That means Reading will no longer be due compensation, and it has led to increased interest in the youngster.

Loader has already been linked with Leeds, Crystal Palace and Wolverhampton Wanderers, and came close to joining the latter last summer.

And now West Ham have been added to the list of potential suitors for the highly-rated teenager.

Cardiff boss gives update on fitness of key man ahead of Leeds clash

Cardiff City manager Neil Harris has revealed that Lee Tomlin is close to a return to full fitness ahead of their meeting with Leeds later this month.

The Championship leaders will travel to south Wales when the season resumes, looking to continue their promotion push.

And they will be wary of Tomlin, who was in fine form before he picked up an injury in February.

“Tommo is infectious, a great character, and a very good trainer. Hence why he got injured in the first place. That's what we want, our senior players to show our younger ones the way,” Harris told Cardiff’s official website.

“He has been out a while, has to get over hurdles, mental as well as physical ones, get out onto pitch, trust your body.

“He's doing that final stage at the moment, which is one of the hardest parts you can have.

“He's back in the group and doing the majority of the work. We're hoping to get him some minutes in the friendly fixtures coming up with local sides, which is a positive."

Leeds could still make move for in demand PSG youngster

Leeds may look to tempt Paris Saint-Germain youngster Tanguy Kouassi away from the French club before he turns 18 and signs a professional deal.

The 17-year-old is highly rated at PSG but could yet have his head turned by offers from elsewhere.

The Ligue 1 champions are not able to sign Kouassi on a professional contract until his 18th birthday, which has opened the door to Leeds and Newcastle United.

PSG have a three-year offer on the table for the teenager, but Leeds could look to tempt him with a longer deal.

It remains to be seen if they are willing to do so.
