Leeds United evening headlines as Rodrigo gives verdict on life at club fans will love

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Friday, October 30.

Bielsa gives injury update

Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa has given an injury update on injured central defensive duo Diego Llorente and Liam Cooper.

Spain international Llorente is not expected to be available to face Leicester City although the club have been handed a huge boost with the return of Cooper.

“Cooper is fine now, but Llorente won’t be fit for this weekend,” Bielsa told his pre-match press conference, as per Leeds Live .

When pressed on the respective layoffs to Llorente and Kalvin Phillips respectively, Bielsa added: “Subject to the evolution of the injury.”

Phillips raves about Davis

Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips has sung the praises of Leif Davis, claiming he would be one of the best players at the clubs if he “settled down a little bit.”

20-year-old Davis moved to Elland Road two seasons ago and has made 12 first-team appearances, with two coming this season.

Primarily a left-back, he is also capable of playing in the heart of the defence or as a left-sided midfielder.

Speaking to Leeds That podcast , Phillips said, as quoted by Leeds Live : “One of the players we haven’t seen much of yet, but we will get to see is, in the future definitely, Leif Davis.

“He’s that good of a player. If he just settled down a little bit and screwed his head on a little bit he’d be up there as one of the best left-backs, left midfielders, centre-halves we’ve got.”

Rodrigo speaks on Leeds move

Leeds United broke their club record transfer to sign striker Rodrigo Moreno from Valencia this summer.

The Spain international has now spoken of his happiness over his move to Elland Road and believes Marcelo Bielsa’s side are on course to enjoy a strong season.

“I am really happy to be back in the Premier League and at such a big club,” Rodrigo told Leeds official club media.

“This is a very important moment for everyone here - for the city and for the club - and the club is back at the level that we deserve.

“We have started really well in the opening weeks of the season and are in a good place to have a strong season.

“I think I have improved a lot (from his previous stint in England, at Bolton) when I was starting my professional career, but now I have a lot of experience - I have won titles at Benfica and Valencia, and played for the Spanish national team.

“Now I feel like a more complete player and ready for this challenge.”
