Here are the Leeds United evening headlines for Sunday October 4.
Raphinha on his way to Whites
Leeds are ‘very close’ to agreeing a £17million deal with Rennes for Brazilian winger Raphinha, according to The Athletic . But what has the player said about a move to England?
Fortunately, the 23-year-old looks desperate for a move to England.
“I came to France with the desire to always improve,” he told Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte earlier this summer.
“It also means going to bigger clubs. The Premier League is the strongest league in the world and I want to play there.”
And the player has even hinted at a move as he looks to brush up on his English.
“I'm looking for Brazilians to teach English, I'm open to negotiations,” he posted on September 14. So far, all signs point towards his imminent arrival.
Shearer on ‘brilliant Leeds’
Premier League legend Alan Shearer has had his say on Leeds’ return to the Premier League, labelling the Whites ‘brilliant’ following their 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
"What they do very well is that they say to the five forward players, 'Go and do your stuff,' and they basically left Phillips on his own with three or four defenders, saying 'once we lose the ball it's up to you'," he told Premier League Productions.
"They're so open. They're going to score goals this season, no doubt about that, but I tell you what, they're going to concede a lot of goals also.
"For the viewers like us, the neutrals, they're going to be brilliant to watch because it's such a unique and different way of playing that the manager encourages them to do.”
Leeds plot swoop for Liverpool defender
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is eyeing up a late move for Liverpool left-back Yasser Larouci ahead of deadline day on October 5, according to the Daily Mirror .
19-year-old Larouci is looking for a route out of Anfield, with Andy Robertson the established first choice.
Reds manager Jurgen Klopp has also added left-back Kostas Tsimikas to the squad this summer, pushing Larouci further down the pecking order.
Larouci has just one year left on his contract at Anfield, and, according to the report, he would favour a move to an English club.
