Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Friday, August 21.
Leeds confirm long-term deal for youth prospect
Alfie McCalmont has become the latest youth prospect to sign a long-term deal with Leeds United.
The Northern Ireland international recently penned a new deal to see him remain at Elland Road until 2024 .
While he is yet to fully bed himself into the first team set-up, Marcelo Bielsa is believed to be a big admirer of the midfielder.
McCalmont, 20, follows the likes of Mateusz Bogusz and Oliver Casey in committing his long-term future at Elland Road as the Leeds hierarchy look to tie down their most exciting young talents.
Rangers transfer stance outlined as Leeds bid rejected
Steven Gerrard has outlined the club’s ambitions to keep Leeds transfer target Ryan Kent at Ibrox this summer after rejecting a bid for the winger.
Kent has been impressive in the SPL under the former Liverpool midfielder and it appears that Leeds may have to shift their focus elsewhere.
Speaking before Rangers’ league match against Kilmarnock, Gerrard issued a strong statement over the Whites’ approach.

He told BBC Sport : “The message is hands-off - Ryan is a player we want to keep hold of.
“Yes, we've had contact from Leeds. An opening bid has been strongly rejected. They are way, way off with that opening bid. That's the truth and the reality. He's a player who is not for sale.”
Leeds reportedly bid for Bayer Leverkusen winger
Leeds have reportedly submitted a bid for Bayer Leverkusen winger Leon Bailey.

According to French journalist Manu Lonjon , the Whites have submitted an official bid for the Jamaica international as they look to prepare for Premier League football next season.
While there are no developments on potential interest at the moment, it is also believed that Everton and other Premier League clubs are keen on Bailey’s services.
Leeds will undoubtedly be interested in signing the winger this summer but much of it could depend on finances and competition from other sides gunning for his signature.
