Leeds United evening headlines as Orta explains smashing transfer record for Rodrigo

Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Saturday August 29.

Victor Orta reveals why Leeds broke transfer record to sign Rodrigo

Leeds director of football Victor Orta has claimed new signing Rodrigo’s style of play makes him a “perfect fit” at Elland Road .

The club have paid a record £27million to sign the striker from Valencia ahead of their first season back in the Premier League.

And Orta has explained why Rodrigo, who has 22 Spain caps to his name, was Leeds’ prime target.

"We have a combination play that we need a striker with a lot of mobility," Orta told LUTV. “For me he can play forward, he can play secondary striker, he can play number ten. He can make a lot of movement, attacking the space. He is aware of our style of football. He can make damage on the wing.

"He has goals and again I think when we analyse the player and the style for our coach, for me he fits perfectly because he has all of the attributes to be a successful player with us.”

Leeds target hints at imminent move on Instagram

Robin Koch has raised Leeds fans’ hopes of another signing after a post on Instagram revealed a flight to England.

The Freiburg defender has been linked with a £13m move to the Whites, and a deal could be completed in the next few days.

Koch’s Instagram story included a photo of the German on a flight headed for England.

The 24-year-old impressed in the Bundesliga last season and looks set to be the latest addition to Marcelo Bielsa’s squad.

Leeds could face setback in pursuit of Bryan

Leeds target Joe Bryan could be offered a new contract at Fulham as the club look to fend off interest from rivals, according to Football Insider .

The left-back, who scored twice in the Cottagers’ play-off final win against Brentford, has two years remaining on his current deal.

Fulham have brought in another player in his position - Antonee Robinson from Wigan - but manager Scott Parker reportedly wants competition for places.

But Bryan is in demand after an impressive season in the Championship. Leeds are one of several clubs - including West Brom, Newcastle and Leicester - interested in signing the 26-year-old, who is valued at around £5m by Fulham.
