Leeds United evening headlines as former teammates clash and Man United frailties exposed

Here are the Leeds United evening headlines on Saturday 19th December.

Leeds duo clash over 'big game' label

Former Leeds United teammates Danny Mills and Olivier Dacourt have been engaged in a brief back-and-forth on Twitter over a claim Mills made about the Frenchman.

Dacourt, now a pundit with French broadcaster Canal Plus, took offence to Mills' labelling of him as only a 'big game' player, suggesting he would fail to turn up against smaller sides.

Mills was speaking to the Official In 20 Podcast when he made the claims that against bottom half sides, Dacourt would go "missing."

The ex-France and England internationals' brief spat has generated debate amongst the Leeds fanbase, with many suggesting Mills is wide of the mark with this latest assessment.

Manchester United suffer from set-pieces too

Leeds United have fallen foul of the occasional set-play recently, succumbing to headers from Kurt Zouma, Tomas Soucek and Ciaran Clark in successive matches.

However, as the spotlight is shone on the Whites' woes from dead ball situations, their opponents this weekend are somewhat sneaking under the radar.

Manchester United have conceded nine times from set-pieces this season, as well as making ten errors directly leading to a goal since the beginning of 2019/20 - the second most in the Premier League.

These are worrying figures from a Manchester United perspective, but all the added motivation Leeds will need prior to facing the Red Devils tomorrow afternoon.

Leeds eye Norwegian ace

With two weeks to go until the January transfer window opens, Teamtalk report that Leeds United are interested in adding Norwegian left-back Fredrik Andre Bjorkan from Eliteserien title-winners Bodo/Glimt.

The 22-year-old played 29 times for the one-time Norwegian champions in a historic campaign for the club based inside the Arctic Circle.

Newcastle United, Brighton and Celtic have all been credited with interest in the left-back who could hypothetically replace deputy duo Stuart Dallas and Gjanni Alioski in defence.

Any move could also be accelerated by the fact that Bodo's Director of Football Aasmund Bjorkan is the player's father.
