Bruce issues Newcastle Covid-19 update

Steve Bruce has given an update on the Covid-19 situation at Newcastle United.

The Magpies returned to action on Saturday with a 2-1 win over West Bromwich Albion after they saw their previous match against Aston Villa postponed following a Covid-19 outbreak at the club.

A host of players were missing against the Baggies, but Bruce is hopeful that he will have more options against Leeds on Wednesday evening.

"We’re hoping that we get a couple of negative results – and a couple of more players (back),” said the Magpies boss.

“We’ll see. We’ve still got far too many at this particular moment. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

"The last two (tests), we’ve been negative, so let’s hope we’ve caught it, and got rid of it, but, as I keep saying, the decision to shut us down when it was ripping through us was key to us playing today.”
