Leeds United evening headlines as deal close for Ajax's Dani van den Heuvel, wonderkid joins

Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines for Tuesday August 11.

Leeds United closing in on Ajax goalkeeper

Leeds United are closing in on the signing of Dutch stopper Dani van den Heuvel, according to Ajax Showtime.

Van den Heuvel, 17, has turned down the opportunity to extend his stay at the Dutch giants in favour of a move to Elland Road. He has been with Ajax since 2017 after a move from ADO Den Haag and will join Joe Geldhardt and Charlie Allen in boosting the club’s under-23 squad.

Leeds have made a concerted effort this summer to secure players for the future, and the Dutch goalkeeper fits firmly within that remit.

Mateusz Bogusz commits to Leeds until 2023

Mateusz Bogusz has agreed a new three-year deal with Leeds United .

Bogusz, 18, joined Leeds from Ruch Chorzow in his native Poland and made his league debut during the final game of the season against Charlton Athletic.

He has now agreed a new deal with the club until 2023, and builds on his success with the Leeds under-23 side.

"He is growing in training," Marcelo Bielsa said. "He's an offensive playmaker. I thought he would be an option for today's match. He is more offensive than Shackleton and Gotts. For this reason, I considered him in case we needed him in the match."

Leeds United confirm signing of highly-rated youngster Charlie Allen on scholarship deal

Leeds have confirmed the signing of Charlie Allen from Linfield.

Allen, 16, is considered one of the best prospects in Northern Ireland, and has signed a scholarship deal at Elland Road. The length of his deal will take him until 2023, and he will enter the club’s academy.

He broke records when he became Linfield’s youngest-ever first-team player as a 15-year-old in April 2019. Managed by David Healy at Linfield, the former Leeds striker was full of praise for Allen.

"He's still young, developing and has a lot to learn, but I know, in time, Charlie won't see his 17th or 18th birthday at Linfield," he said last year.

"He will be elsewhere. Our plan is to guide him the best way for the next 12 months when he is here.

"He is still at school and hopefully when he does go he will make the right choices and have an incredible full-time career."
