Here are your Leeds United evening headlines for Tuesday, September 22.
James expects United stay
Manchester United winger Daniel James is not expecting to leave Old Trafford in this transfer window despite interest from Leeds United.
The Manchester Evening News reports that sources close to the player don’t expect a deal to happen before the October transfer deadline.
Leeds have been cited as potential suitors for the Wales international having missed out on acquiring his services in January 2019 when he was still a Swansea City player.
James has since struggled to gather momentum at Old Trafford since arriving last summer but it appears any move in this transfer window is currently unlikely.
Llorente ‘one of the best’ Spanish centre backs
Spanish football expert Guillem Balague has backed Diego Llorente to thrive in the Premier League amid links with Leeds.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side are understood to be in advanced talks with Real Sociedad and Balague has lauded the 27-year-old as a fantastic signing.
He tweeted: "Diego Llorente is a very athletic centre-back who has played also as full-back and centre-midfielder.
"Quality with his feet, he struggled a bit as he played left of the two centre-backs this season and had a muscle problem in January.
"Clever and brave anticipating, but he perhaps needs to be stronger in 50-50s.
"Good in set-pieces both defending and attacking (scores goals). He has good pace and will need it to defend the big spaces Leeds create behind defenders.
"He perhaps risks too much and produces a mistake or two, but he's considered on his best form to be one of the top five or six Spanish centre-backs."
Leeds urged to complete big-money move
Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has urged Leeds to complete the signing of Rodrigo De Paul from Udinese.
In an interview with MOT Leeds News, Robinson noted the midfielder would be a fantastic addition to Bielsa’s squad.
He said: “It’s one I’d like to see get pushed over the line as quickly as possible.
“They’re not far apart in terms of valuation and I think there’s a deal there to be done if they want him.
“I think they should push to get a deal done as soon as possible. He’s obviously been identified as the player they want in, and he could be an eventual replacement for Pablo Hernandez.
“From what I’ve seen of him he’s a really, really good player… he creates, he’s not afraid to put in the hard yards, he puts in a tackle, his range of passing is outstanding.”
