Here are the latest Leeds United evening headlines for Sunday, August 9.
Lampard plans to hijack Leeds move
Frank Lampard is planning to hijack Leeds’ pursuit of Ben White, according to the Sunday Mirror .
White, 22, enjoyed a fantastic loan spell with the Whites last season which culminated in the club earning promotion to the Premier League.
Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa is eager to make the move permanent despite the tough task of convincing Brighton & Hove Albion to part with the defender.
His form at Elland Road did n go unnoticed, however, with both Chelsea and Liverpool reportedly joining the race to sign White this summer.
Lampard is said to be keen on overhauling his defence with Antonio Rudiger anticipated as one of the main casualties of his planned changes.
Cavani accepts Benfica offer
Edinson Cavani is close to joining Benfica after agreeing a three-year contract with the club, according to Record.
The striker is a free agent after leaving Paris Saint-Germain earlier this summer and had been linked with an audacious move to Leeds to work with Bielsa.
Those hopes appear to have been dashed, however, with news coming out of Portugal that Cavani has reached an agreement with Benfica.
Record state the striker has agreed to reduce his wage demands and will now sign with Benfica for three years.
Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has previously suggested the club will break their transfer record this summer and spend in order to compete in the top flight.
Leeds chasing Oxford captain
Leeds are interested in Oxford United captain Robert Dickie but face competition for his signature, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Dickie, 24, started his career at Reading and was in fine form for Oxford last season as they missed out on promotion through the League One play-offs.
That form has attracted interest from Leeds, as well as West Bromwich Albion, Fulham and Newcastle United.
It is believed he has a valuation of £3million.
