Leeds United evening headlines as Blackburn Rovers boss discusses Barry Douglas transfer

Here are the Leeds evening headlines for Thursday, October 15.

Barry Douglas a target for Blackburn

Tony Mowbray has confirmed Blackburn Rovers are looking at Scotland international Barry Douglas.

The Leeds defender has been on the fringes of the first-team for some time under Marcelo Bielsa, and with the transfer window set to close the Scottish defender must earn regular playing time.

Blackburn look set to offer him that opportunity after Mowbray confirmed his interest in signing Douglas.

“We’re always trying to do business but a phone call is a phone call, and then there’s another phone call later,” Mowbray told a press conference.

“I would hope that we could get a minimum of two, maybe three players in, if we can. We’re working hard behind the scenes to bolster the squad.”

“We’re looking for players who can come and compete in that position [left-back] and Barry Douglas is one name among a few that we’ve been talking to and looking at. We’ll see which one falls into place for us.”

Wolves insider expects Leeds United to take a few hidings but fears weakness they can exploit

Wolverhampton Wanderers are the next team to face Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United when they travel to Elland Road on Monday evening.

The Whites have enjoyed a bright start to life in the top flight, and they will be hopeful of continuing that impressive form against Wolves.

Leeds fans will be curious to know more about Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, and we spoke to Alex Dicken, the Wolves expert at our sister site BirminghamLive about the Portuguese manager's side.

Leeds United squeeze out another loan deal before the transfer window closes

Lincoln City have completed a loan deal for Leeds United midfielder Robbie Gotts today.

Gotts, 20, is one of several promising youngsters at Elland Road and will now continue the next phase of his career in League One with Lincoln.

Interestingly, the Whites will hold a chance to review the loan arrangement in January and decide whether to continue on with it for the rest of the season.

Leeds director of football Victor Orta has already loaned out Mateusz Bogusz, Ryan Edmondson, Alfie McCalmont and Jordan Stevens during the current transfer window.
