Good evening, Leeds fans. Here are your evening headlines for Tuesday, December 1.
Bamford earns Cavani comparison
Gary Neville has compared Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford to Manchester United counterpart Edinson Cavani, identifying a trait in their game that they share.
Cavani netted twice for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side on Sunday as they beat Southampton 3-2, with both goals coming after a near-post run, and Neville believes the Uruguay international is the best in the world in this aspect.
However, he also identified that Bamford has a similar trait in his game: "To be fair, Patrick Bamford does it very well but not at the same level, Cavani has been a different level for the last five or six years."
Leeds urged to sign Origi
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan has admitted he would love to see Marcelo Bielsa bring Divock Origi to the club from Liverpool next year.
The 25-year-old is reportedly entering the end of his Anfield career, having fallen further down the pecking order following the arrival of Diogo Jota from Wolves in the summer.
Whelan believes it's something that the Whites should be keeping a close eye on, as he feels that the Belgium international is perfectly suited to Marcelo Bielsa's style of play.
“He has got all of the attributes that Marcelo Bielsa looks for in a striker and he can play out wide as well. Bielsa likes players that can adapt across that front three," he told Football Insider.
“Leeds do not have many strikers, we only have one focal point in Patrick Bamford so Origi would fit straight into the side."
Carragher issues Leeds warning
Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has fired a warning to Leeds' rivals following the Whites' 1-0 victory over Everton in the Premier League.
Carragher was impressed with Kalvin Phillips' performance, heaping praise upon the England international and issuing a warning to their rivals.
"If you are coming up against Leeds United, who are brilliant as a team, not just Kalvin Phillips, he has got to be a major part of your team talk, exactly the way Paul Scholes was for Manchester United," Carragher said on Monday Night Football.
"You had to stop Paul Scholes pulling strings in midfield and this lad, that was one of the best performances I have seen from an individual this season, and if you come up against him, you have got to stop him."
