Leeds United evening headlines as Aston Villa target linked with move and injury update given

Good evening, Leeds fans. Here are your evening headlines for Thursday, September 10.

Bielsa confirms Leeds stay

Marcelo Bielsa has confirmed that he will be staying at Leeds this season despite having not officially signed a new contract at Elland Road.

The future of the Argentine coach has been the subject of much speculation throughout the summer, although the Whites have always maintained the man who guided the club to promotion would remain in charge for their first Premier League campaign since 2004.

And in his pre-match press conference ahead of facing Liverpool on Saturday, Bielsa announced he won’t be leaving Leeds any time soon.

Beren Cross on Bielsa's pre-Liverpool press conference

"I will be working the next season at Leeds United," he confirmed via video conference.

"Everything has been sorted and it's definite I will be here this season.”

Team news update ahead of Liverpool opener

Leeds will have an almost fully-fit squad available for their Premier League opener against Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday evening.

Bielsa’s side travel to the Premier League champions for their first taste of top-flight action in 16 years, and only long-term absentee Adam Forshaw will not be under consideration.

During his pre-match press conference, Bielsa confirmed Forshaw would miss the contest but said new signings Robin Koch and Rodrigo Moreno are available for their respective debuts.

While the Whites coach refused to be drawn on detailed team news, he admitted both the summer arrivals are in good physical condition ahead of the new Premier League season.

Leeds interested in Bundesliga star

Leeds are reportedly interested in signing Werder Bremen forward Milot Rashica this summer.

According to Deichstube, as cited by Bulinews, the Whites are amongst several clubs, including fellow Premier League outfit Aston Villa and Serie A giants Napoli, in the 24-year-old.

The report also states Villa are willing to meet Werder Bremen’s €25million valuation for the forward, who has two years left on his current contract.
