The Leeds United dressing room's challenge to Jean-Kevin Augustin ahead of the run-in

Jean-Kevin Augustin is generating more interest than most Leeds United players during this hiatus with his energetic social media videos.

Of everyone in the squad, this break is suiting him best. Out of shape before his hamstring injury, the French striker’s chances of any impact before returning to Germany looked slimmer after it.

However, those final nine matches, if and when they are played, seem to be more and more realistic for an Augustin rapidly working his way through a rehabilitation programme.

Naturally, Stuart Dallas, who is not Augustin’s fitness coach, had little to say on the forward’s comeback, but did admit the Whites will need him firing if and when the run-in arrives.

“There’s plenty of chat. Obviously, you’ve got to send in your programmes, but he’s been on a different programme because he’s coming back from injury,” he said.

“He’s putting in the work and we need him firing. We need him playing to his potential and if we can get that it will benefit us massively.

“Everybody’s fit. The backroom team we have, the sports science guys we have, we have a great team there that give us everything we need and then it comes down to how much we really want it.”
