Leeds United digest: TV fixtures, Bielsa on Nketiah vs Bamford, what the stats say, fans praised

Leeds United's preparations for Saturday's Yorkshire derby at Sheffield Wednesday are well under way, with Marcelo Bielsa due to face the press on Thursday afternoon.

The trip to Hillsborough comes hot on the heels of Tuesday night's 1-1 draw at Preston North End, with Eddie Nketiah's equaliser again sparking debate over who should start up front for the Whites.

Ahead of a busy day, here are the latest stories from Elland Road...

Christmas TV fixtures announced

Sky Sports have revealed their latest batch of Championship TV games for the Christmas Period with Leeds United's games against Preston North End and West Brom both selected.

Every single second-tier club will feature across Sky throughout December, with three games set to be shown on Boxing Day.

Here's the full list of fixture rearrangements.

Bielsa on Nketiah vs Bamford debate

Marcelo Bielsa says that is natural that Leeds United fans will disagree with him over starting Patrick Bamford ahead of Eddie Nketiah but adds that supporters do not necessarily see what he does when it comes to the duo.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Bielsa however stated that he has his reasons for keeping the ex-Middlesbrough man in his starting line-up, though he admits that the choice on which to field remains difficult.

"When you have more than one option for one place in the team, it’s never a problem," the Argentine stated. "It’s two solutions to one problem. I try to manage this.

Bamford vs Nketiah - the stats

Eddie Nketiah's last gasp heroics against Preston North End showed once again how he is quickly becoming an indispensable threat for Leeds United this season.

Yet despite netting his fifth goal of the term, the Arsenal loanee continues to remain benched behind Patrick Bamford under Marcelo Bielsa.

The Argentine has spoken on several occasions about his reasons for leaving the England youth international among the substitutes so far in the Whites' Championship campaign.

But on a statistical level, it's becoming increasingly difficult to see how Nketiah remains stuck on the sidelines waiting for a belated introduction rather than taking to the field for kick-off.

Praise over Preston policing

All eyes were on the policing of Leeds United's visit to Preston North End on Tuesday night.

10 men were arrested during fan trouble after the Elland Road fixture against Birmingham City last Saturday. West Yorkshire Police described the scenes as the 'worst in over a decade' as fans were seen throwing bottles at officers outside the stadium.

Meanwhile Preston Police had maintained that they police 'behaviour not reputation' and have seen little trouble from travelling Whites fans in recent seasons.
