Leeds United digest: Sky Sports decline, O'Leary return, loanee back in action

A weekend of Leeds United-less football has come and gone as the international break rumbles on.

Marcelo Bielsa's men will soon be returning to Thorp Arch to prepare for Saturday's trip to Luton, but ahead of that, here's a look at the latest Leeds United stories.

International round-up

Leeds United utility man Stuart Dallas could not help but express his disappointment after Northern Ireland missed the chance to maintain their hopes of securing automatic qualification for Euro 2020 following their 0-0 draw with the Netherlands at Windsor Park this weekend.

Here's a look at what he had to say, plus a look at the rest of Leeds' international contingent.

Sky Sports losing love for Leeds?

There was a time that Sky Sports were willing to do everything to get Leeds United in front of their cameras - but not so much anymore.

So far this term, for fixtures that have been selected for TV coverage up until mid-January, United will have only been shown live on Sky Sports nine times.

Loan watch - Mujica returns to action

With Championship football given the chance to catch its breathe this weekend, international football was allowed to take centre stage.

Whilst some Leeds United players, such as Stuart Dallas and Mateusz Klich, were awarded the chance to represent their countries, it was a rare weekend off for the majority of Marcelo Bielsa's players.

That included most of Leeds' loanees, but for Rafa Mujica, it was a return to action after a month out.

Here's how he got on.

O'Leary eyed for Arsenal return

Former Leeds United player and boss David O'Leary is being considered to be handed a club consultant role at Premier League giants Arsenal.

O'Leary, who was in charge at Elland Road between 1998 and 2000, played over 700 games for the Gunners, as well as being captain, during an 18-year stint from 1975 and 1993.

Gunners chairman Chips Keswick is amongst members of the club's hierarchy that are eager to bring O'Leary back to the Emirates Stadium, as reported by our sister title The People.

Orta on scouting

Victor Orta has revealed how he utilised data analytics to push for Leeds United's move for Daniel James earlier this year, before the deal collapsed at the last hour.

The former Swansea City star, who saw a transfer to Elland Road stalled while he was waiting at Elland Road on deadline day in January, ultimately joined Premier League rivals Manchester United after the Whites missed out on bringing him to West Yorkshire.
