Leeds United digest: Monk jibe, Phillips transfer rumour, Bielsa's message for fans

Leeds United head into a new week with third place in the Championship table after holding on for a point amid stern pressure at Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.

Here is a round-up of the three big stories you need to stay on top of as we head into a new week.

Monk: We made United look like the team with a new manager

Sheffield Wednesday manager Garry Monk believes you would have thought it was Leeds United who were just eight weeks into a new era under a new manager and not his Owls side, following Saturday's goalless draw at Hillsborough.

Monk, who spent one season in charge at Elland Road, made the admission after watching his side give a good account of themselves in Saturday's Yorkshire derby, with Wednesday having a number of chances to seal all three points.

Despite seeing his side put themselves right in the middle of the promotion shake-up, Monk is adamant his side are still a work in progress.

What's actually been said about Man Utd's reported Phillips interest

Manchester United are keen on signing Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United, according to the latest reports from the Sunday newspapers.

The Red Devils have been watching the 23-year-old during the last few months and The Sun on Sunday reports assistant coach Mike Phelan was in attendance to keep tabs on the Leeds man against Birmingham City last week.

While it seems fellow coach Kieran McKenna took in the Whites' 1-1 draw with Preston North End in midweek as they step up their interest in Phillips.
